Mother, Librarian, Paper Crafter

Hi, my name is Adrian Mackey. I’m a crafter. Whew! There, I said it… I’m a crafter! I started my crafting journey back in 2017 to relieve stress and help me cope with anxiety and depression. I had never done anything like it before so I was pretty excited to try something new. I loved it! First, I was simply making DIY home decor pieces inspired by the videos I binge watched on YouTube. I painted and hot glued everything I could get my hands on at the Dollar Tree. Then I gave everything away to family, friends, neighbors and complete strangers. This was better than therapy, and quite a bit cheaper… and it made me feel so much better. I was able to reduce stress, and the anxiety and depression subsided so much that I did not have to keep taking medication.

In 2020, everything changed. The global pandemic brought with it a new level of stress and anxiety. With the whole world coming to a screeching halt, I found myself stuck at home, with the walls closing in on me. I was going stir crazy so I decided to learn five new crafts: wreath making, glass etching, paint pouring, knitting/crochet, and paper crafting. Although I liked making wreaths and etching on glass, it was paper crafting that really captured my heart! I made paper flowers, paper purses, scrapbook pages, junk journals, mini photo albums, etc… but it was card making that truly tapped into my love language: words of affirmation. I could make cards that said exactly what was in my heart, and then share them with the people in my life. This was heaven on earth for me. And the more I shared those cards, the more people wanted the cards. I began donating the cards to various support groups, ministries, and to my local public library (oh, I forgot to mention that I’m also a librarian.) Now, people can get my cards to send to their loved ones just by making a donation to the library. It’s perfect!

This year, I decided to take my passion for card making and paper crafting to the next level. I wanted to share them with everyone! Starting this blog and posting my crafts on social media were the next logical step for me. I hope you will go on this journey with me. You can subscribe to this blog and follow me on all my social media platforms. Thanks for your support!

Let’s make something special!
