Metallic Florals

Hey, y’all! I am back with another card featuring fun finishes and a embossed background. As always, this card is stunning and super easy to make. Let’s get started!

I started this card with an A2 panel of deep red card stock from Michaels. This card stock is from the SHADES OF RED paper pack, and is 65 lbs/176 gsm. I made several of these panels last week for the previous card so I decided to use one of the extra panels. Like before, I spritzed the card stock with shimmer spray prior to embossing. The panel was then embossed using the KALEIDOSCOPE EMBOSSING FOLDER from Simon Says Stamp’s Card Kit of the Month for October. The embossed panel was sprayed with multiple layers of Ranger’s DYLUSIONS BY DYAN REAVELEY SHIMMER SPRAYS in Fiery Sunset and Desert Sand.

While the panel was drying, I started on the flowers. Now let me tell you, I am not a floral person… not at all! But this LOVELY LAYERING: CONEFLOWER die set from Honeybee Stamps is so beautiful, I think I could put these flowers on every card! This set is extremely popular, and there are dozens of beautiful card projects all over social media. I wanted to do something a little different. I did not want to simply ink blend the petals. I have a few of Ranger’s DYLUSIONS BY DYAN REAVELEY SHIMMER SPRAYS and all of the limited editions of Tim Holtz Distress Mica Sprays. I wanted to use them to make some really pretty papers. For this card, I sprayed CROOKED BROOMSTICK, DESERT SAND AND WHITE LINEN onto some heavy white card stock. Once the paper was dry, I used the dies to cut out the flower layers. For the leaves, I used BUBBLING CAULDRON, TREE LOT, and ISLAND PARROT on 2 shades of green card stock. The coordinating dies were used to cut out the leaves.

The shimmer on these petals and leaves is so gorgeous! The dies have embossed details, and the shimmer just accented those details perfectly. I followed the instructions for layering the petals, and added lots of dimension.

These colors look amazing against the background. I did not want to introduce any additional color to the palette so I used the left over paper from the petals to heat emboss the sentiment. This sentiment is from the TAYLORED EXPRESSIONS’ ALL TUCKED IN – HARVEST stamp set. The DARK CHOCOLATE EMBOSSING POWDER from GINA K. DESIGNS was used to heat emboss the sentiment; then the large banner die from the MASTER LAYOUTS 2 die set was used to cut out the sentiment. I tucked in between the two flowers.

The card panel was adhered to a cream colored A2 base. I also paired this card with a coordinating envelope. I love the way this card turned out! I can hardly wait to send this thank you card to a very deserving friend.

I hope you enjoy making this card. Let me know what you think about it in the comments. Happy Crafting!
