Groovy Baby!

Groovy baby, yeah!!! ✌️❤️🤩 This is the perfect birthday card for my sister. She is colorful and so stylish, just like this beauty ANGELIQUE from @capitolchicdesigns! This card is so easy to make, and doesn’t require any kind of fancy coloring (fancy coloring is just not my jam). But can we just take a moment to admire and appreciate ANGELIQUE… She is simply the grooviest!

I started with the TIE DYE LAYERING STENCIL from @erinleecreative which creates the perfect backdrop for this very happening, very shagadelic doll. I ink blended dye inks from Taylored Expressions (tayloredexpressions.com) in rainbow order: Watermelon, Fruit Punch, Candy Corn, Lemon Meringue, Mint Julep, Lime Zest, Key Lime, Cookie Monster, Blue Raspberry, Blueberry, Lavender Glaze, and Jelly Donut. Of course you can simplify your ink color selections, I just wanted to get a gradient blend of color all around this image. This 3-piece layering stencil set is a wonderful tool for creating colorful backgrounds, and is available online at https://erinleecreative.com/collections/stencils/products/tie-dye-layering-stencil-set.

Just Groovy Baby!

Next, a banner with stitched detail from Simon Says Stamp is cut from vellum and attached to the ink-blended card panel. This will soften the colorful background so that the gorgeous paper doll does not get lost. It doesn’t take anything away from the overall balance of the card, and it allows the doll to take centerstage on the card front. I used some thin foam squares to pop her up on the banner to give her a little dimension.

Finally, the card’s sentiment is a nod to one of my favorite movies, Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery. I designed the “Groovy Baby” sentiment and cut it out of both silver foil and white card stock using my Cricut Joy. I finished the card off with some shiny sequins.

I absolutely love this card! It was so fun to make, and I just know that my sister is going to get a kick out of it, too!

If you like this card, leave me a comment. Happy crafting!!
